What is a cloud phone system? Phone orders and caller display for restaurants

A caller card opening on the till while the phone rings

A large share of takeaway and delivery orders still comes by phone. A call nobody can answer in the rush is often an order that goes elsewhere. A cloud phone system is one of the most practical ways to cut that loss.

What is a cloud phone system?

A traditional PBX is a box: lines plug into it and extensions come out of it. In a cloud PBX that box lives on the operator's servers; the venue only has IP or desk phones. Your number can stay the same and extensions ring over the internet. In Türkiye, operators such as NetGSM provide the service.

What happens when it is connected to the POS?

A phone call reaching the till

The phone rings, the caller opens on the till.

  • The caller opens at the top right of the till: if they are in the guest book, their name, VIP mark, visit count and note (“peanut allergy”).
  • From the card, a takeaway order or a booking form with the number filled in opens with one tap.
  • Unanswered calls collect in a missed list; “Call back” rings the phone at the till first, then dials the customer.
  • When the customer calls again and you talk, the number drops off the list by itself.

How it differs from a caller ID box

What you need

  1. A NetGSM Netsantral (cloud PBX) plan with API rights; you can port your existing number.
  2. One or more IP or desk phones (extensions).
  3. The cloud phone add-on in ari adisyon (per branch).
  4. Setup: enter the PBX number and API password, paste the secret address into the NetGSM panel, confirm with a test call.

How is personal data protected?

ari adisyon does not write call data to its database: a live call is held for 2 hours and the missed list for 48 hours, temporarily, then deleted automatically. Call history and — if enabled on your PBX — recordings stay in your NetGSM account.
